Limitation of OEM fitted Filters

If your Machines already equipped with Filters, then you may think why do you need an additional Oil Filtration System?
You still need to have Oil Filtration Systems because:

• OEM fitted in-line filters are Surface Type Filters and cannot remove particles at high efficiency.
• OEM fitted in-line filters are generally of 15 micron or 25 micron size. So they cannot remove particles of lesser size (i.e. clearance sized particles)
• Filters cannot remove moisture contamination
• OEM fitted in-line filters can neither prevent nor remove formation of varnish, sludge and resins.
• OEM fitted in-line filters do not prevent additive depletion
• Surface filters have a limited contamination holding capacity, usually between 1 and 100 grams, which calls for high filter replacement at short intervals.

Limitations of Centrifugal Systems

• Lube oil when in huge tanks is circulated through Oil Centrifuge System for filtration and water removal.
• Centrifuge systems cannot remove solid particles of less than 10 micron from oil
• Cannot remove emulsified or dissolved moisture content from oil which is less than 500 PPM approx
• Centrifuge can remove ONLY free or un-dissolved moisture from oil.
• Centrifuges cannot remove oxygen / air bubbles in oil
• Centrifuge cannot be operated for long hours as there is risk of additive package separation from oil, due to excessive rotation of oil at high RPM
• Centrifuge is not a versatile equipment and cannot handle oils of various viscosities with a single machine.

Limitations of Electrostatic Systems

• Electrostatic Systems (ELCs) trip & stop working when moisture content in oil is more than 500 PPM (0.05%).
• Cannot remove moisture content from oil
• ELCs cannot work for oil viscosity above 100 cSt.
• ELCs cannot prevent varnish formation in oil as they do not remove moisture.
• Though ELCs remove varnish (but very slowly) they cannot wipe-off varnish already stuck up on valves or metal surfaces.
• ELCs cannot be operated for long hours as there is risk of polar charging of oil & additives which reduces oil intrinsic properties
