The measurement method consists in adding various reagents to the oil in order to induce a change of colour.
The volume of reagent required for changing the colour is precisely monitored and allows calculating the BN (Base Number) value in mg kOH/g.

BN Test - Measurement of Motor Lubricants Alkalinity Reserve - Pressure Method
The GESERCO Pressure BN Test® is designed for determining the alkalinity reserve (BN) of motor oils on the engine operation site.
The measurement method consists in adding a reagent to the oil which produces a pressure proportional to the alkalinity reserve of the oil.
The produced pressure is measured by means of a dial pressure gauge and an abacus is used to calculate the BN value that corresponds to the pressure.
The test is simple and rapid, and the kit includes a detailed testing and interpretation guide so that the engineer can make immediate decisions for maintaining the engine and increasing its lifespan.
