DESMI GlobeBoom® or DESMI RO-Fence GlobeBoom® is a robust rigid buoyancy boom for long-term deployment harbours, terminals and inland waters. The boom is manufactured in robust materials designed to withstand harsh effects of abrasion, UV, oil and marine degradation. DESMI RO-Fence GlobeBoom® is made from a unique substrate compound of synthetic rubber with a CSM (Hypalon) external skin. This unique homogenous, single process construction has complete cross, hot vulcanisation of rubber and reinforcing fabrics. This seamless, flexible structure has very high abrasion resistance, peel resistance, tensile strength and will withstand the effects of sun, sea and oils which destroy many other booms.
The floats are of a hemi-spherical design and are extremely abrasion and crush resistant. Each globe has a cast handle that allows for easy handling. Attached to both sides of the boom, they create excellent stability and maximise the response of the barrier to wave action. As the floats provide discrete, concentrated nodes of buoyancy, the boom is more responsive to short period waves. Therefore there is less of a tendency for splash-over in chop when compared to booms with comparatively longer float designs. Also, with quasi-spherical float, the boom is very stable in high winds – highly resistant to laying down due to pendulum effect of the ballast working in combination with the spherical floats.
The DESMI RO-Fence GlobeBoom® is standard ballasted by galvanised steel weights placed under each pair of floats. Alternatively stainless steel blocks or galvanized chain ballast can be used. Eyelets and brackets are made from AISI 316 stainless steel.
DESMI RO-Fence GlobeBoom® can be supplied in section lengths up to 200 m / 656 ft. The heavy-duty floats are foam filled to provide ultimate reliability.
The entire surface of the boom is smooth, which makes cleaning easier – several types of oil do not stick to the boom at all.

Because of its rugged, yet flexible construction, GlobeBoom® ED is the boom of choice in situations where it is frequently launched and recovered such as on terminal piers and wharfs where transferring vessels are boomed off as a precautionary measure.
The GlobeBoom® float shape, ED’s tough barrier fabric and chain ballast also make it a first choice in fast current settings, particularly where debris is a concern. ED is available in four tested and proven standard sizes, and can be custom tailored to your needs.

Tow Set:
For towing and recovery of DESMI Ro-Fence GlobeBoom
A set of towing equipment delivered for Ro-Fence GB is sufficient for towing the boom in a sweep formation. The tow set is delivered assembled and includes:
- Two Tow bars
- Two bridles
- Two 20m tow ropes
- Two buoys of 35 litre each
- Shackles, bolts and nuts for assembling the tow set
Nylon Rope White 3-Strand
For anchoring boom
Very strong synthetic fiber rope with excellent shock absorption properties. High elongation makes this rope ideal for towing and mooring applications. Nylon ropes offer greater break load strength than polyester and polysteel. Material: Polyamid/multifilament. Fibers extracts out part as monofilament part as multifilament. It is a strong rope and has a high elongation under load but goes back to its original length. Nylon has high energy absorption under shock and good abrasion resistance. It has a flexible and smooth construction. And it is resistant against alkalies and rot.

Ground Spike
Essentials for Securing Systems
The galvanized ground spikes are hammered or screwed into the ground to anchor booms or objects in rivers and lakes. Ground spikes designed with fins increases the stability in sandy soil.
