This year, we are honoured to spotlight Zongoloni, a former orphan under the care of The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, who has recently stepped into motherhood with the birth of her first calf—a healthy and spirited baby boy named Zigi.
Zongoloni’s story is one of remarkable resilience. Rescued as an orphaned elephant calf, she was lovingly rehabilitated and reintegrated into the wild through the dedicated efforts of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Today, she has not only survived the odds but thrives in her natural habitat as a mother—a true symbol of hope, instinct, and the enduring power of love.
